I am Deborah Marshall and I’m currently a freshman at Michigan State University. I am majoring in Broadcast Journalism. I was a 2018 recipient of the Deshazer Foundation. I am forever grateful for the award. It has allowed me to further my education while taking some burden off of my parents. A lot of times, scholarships like this are taken for granted but little by little helps a lot. The Deshazer Foundation has not only helped me but other students like me who are on their way to change the world. As I continue my education at Michigan State, I will keep my head high and always remember who helped me from the start. Eventually, I would love to do the same and give back! With lots of love and gratitude, I thank you so much! Love, Deborah Marshall.

My name is Tarah Hill, and I am a Freshman Computer Animation major at Howard University. Going into my first year on a partial scholarship was nerve racking, as I tried to find as many scholarships as possible to cover the other half. I do believe that education is important, but I have never wanted to place a financial burden on my family. I will forever be grateful to the Deshazer Foundation as they helped my family pay my tuition. I plan on making the foundation proud by getting my Masters in Animation and going on to work for Pixar Animation Studios.

On September 23rd, 2017, I was awarded with the Deshazer Foundation. This in many ways was very rewarding and gave me a sense of recognizition, but most importantly, it gave me a bit of relief. As a first time college student, I was not fully aware of all of the miscellaneous costs that came with college; such as books, supplies, etc. Additionally, being a first time college student also came with the responsibility of obtaining loans. The Deshazer Foundation didn’t completely eliminate this, but it did however give me a great head start in paying my college tuition. It not only lowered the total amount that I had to pay back, but also decreased the time that I needed to pay back the loans I borrowed. I will be forever grateful for the seed that was given to me by Mrs. Rose White & the Deshazer Foundation and just the step I needed to place me in the right direction.

My name is Zion Colvin and I will be a sophomore next semester at Illinois College located in Jacksonville, Illinois. First off, I would like to thank Mrs. White for introducing me to this great organization. I would also like to thank the organization for the scholarship award that was granted to me. With being raised in a single parent home, not knowing how I was going to pay for my college tuition was a concern I thought about frequently. But since I was given a generous donation from this organization it definitely got my feet off the ground. So, I would just like to say that I am very thankful and I thank you very much

As a recent graduate from California State University, Long Beach, receiving this award during the summer of my first year in college in 2013 was very beneficial. It allowed me to have some financial security when it came to my school supplies and books. I was able to use the scholarship over multiple semesters to help me acquire all of the materials that I needed to be successful in the classes that I was enrolled in at the time. The DeShazor, DeShazer, DeShazier & DeShazior family scholarship was an amazing addition to furthering my education and it helped me for the better. Thank you, family, for having chosen me as a recipient of the award, I love you all.

When I received the DDDD scholarship 11 years ago I did not really understand how much it would help until I got that first tuition statement! I then grew to deeply appreciate the scholarship! It was a great assistance to my parents and I!
